- The dark side of the moon: see the side always facing away from us courtesy of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter in this time lapse of the moon’s rotation if it weren’t tidally locked to Earth.
- What would it look like to leave Earth? Time lapse taken by Messenger as it headed off to Mercury
- Noctilucent clouds and aurora over Scotland. The meandering bright filaments of sunlight-reflecting ice crystals are the highest clouds in the Earth’s atmosphere and continue to reflect the sun’s light after it’s set over the horizon.
- A supercell thunderstorm over Texas.
