Astronomy Pictures of the Fortnight XLIX

Remember tomorrow (Saturday, May 5) is an excellent opportunity to see a spectacular Super Moon.  Check here for local times for moon rise  (7:52PM in Orlando) and catch it on the horizon.

The Higgs Boson explained by cartoon.  Simple/clarifying “Periodic Table of The Fundamental Particles” that tries to establish an explanatory structure analogous to the behavior of electron orbitals around the nucleus found in the Periodic Table of Elements.  (Alternate attempts to explain the “The God Particle” a.k.a. “A Particle of Faith” here.)

Exoplanet found in a habitable zone?  Gliese 667Cc, orbiting around a red dwarf star, 22 light years away from the earth.  Don’t get too excited, the creation of Eden is far more complex than you may have heard.
