Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity (E=mc2) just became so 2000-and-late: there may be particles that can travel faster than the speed of light. Let the nerd humor begin!
A bartender says, “Hey, we don’t allow faster-than-light neutrinos in here.”
A neutrino walks into a bar…
And with nerd cred firmly established by that joke… in for a dime, in for a dollar:
1. Early in the past fortnight (so it may be old news to you) I received this particular item from Will Harrell: a planet orbiting two suns (yes, like Tatooine). I’m passing it along despite the fact I’ll have to pay residuals to Lucas.
2. Speaking of planets, 50 more have been discovered, including 16 “super-Earths.”
The newfound haul of alien planets includes 16 super-Earths, which are potentially rocky worlds that are more massive than our planet. One in particular – called HD 85512 b – has captured astronomers’ attention because it orbits at the edge of its star’s habitable zone, suggesting conditions could be ripe to support life.
Color me skeptical about the existence of life elsewhere in the universe, due to the eerie silence… although I certainly hope there’s intelligent life somewhere up in space since “there’s bugger all down here on earth.”
3. Time-lapse video from the ISS as it orbits the earth. Go feed your inner superhero.
Thanks for your patience; now onto the usual:
