The river that ran away from paradise

The Caristales River in Colombia:  the most colorful river in the world.  During a brief span between the wet and dry seasons, when the water level is just right, the many varieties of algae and moss bloom in a dazzling display of colours.

The location is not accessible by road, and until recently was effectively closed due to guerrilla activity.
