A fogbow

Catching up on my Astronomy POD – a Featured Link on the right – turned up an earthly phenomenon I’d not heard of before.  (I’ve grown accustomed to humbling extra-terrestrial images from the site.)  It’s called a fogbow, and this image was taken atop a volcano with Mars shining brightly.

While I have you hear, this one from another volcano.  It’s a time-lapse photo, with concentric circles around Polaris and a mirror image reflecting in a lake.  If you follow the link you can mouse-over the image for time-lapse effect.
